For detailed information on the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), please visit: esta.cbp.dhs.gov/.

You can contact the National Visa Center directly at 1-603-334-0888.

Please note the following for all VWP travelers:

  • Approved Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) applications are valid for two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. During this period, travelers can make multiple trips to the United States without reapplying for another ESTA.
  • Although ESTA travel information can be updated before each trip to the U.S., it is not mandatory.
  • With an approved ESTA, you may stay in the U.S. for up to 90 days per visit. Ensure there is a reasonable amount of time between visits to avoid suspicion of attempting to reside in the U.S. There is no specific required wait time between visits.

PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS

To travel under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), travelers must possess passports with specific security features. The requirements are as follows:

  • The passport must have a machine-readable zone on the biographic page.
  • The passport must be an electronic passport (e-passport) with a digital chip containing biometric information about the passport owner.

As of April 1, 2016, all travelers using the VWP must have an e-passport. An e-passport, identified by the symbol, is a highly secure passport with an embedded electronic chip. These e-passports are issued by the appropriate passport issuing authority and must meet international standards for securing and storing information related to the passport and its bearer. https://www.dhs.gov/e-passports
